Abstract

Thisis a case report of surgical repositioning of unilateral posterior maxillary alveolar hyperplasia by one step posterior maxillary segmetal osteotomy.
The patient had masticatory difficulty due to the impinngement on edentulous mandibular posterior alveolar ridge by vertically extruded maxillary posterior teeth.
We planned to perform one step posterior maxillary segmental osteotomy to superiorly reposition the extrued posterior maxillary alveolar segment and to recreate enough vertical dimension between upper and lower arch for prosthodontic
rehabilitation.
After superior repositioning of right posterior maxillary segment, prosthodontic rehabilitation was done on edentulous area of mandibular first and second molars.
Therefore, we suggest that one step posterior maxillary segmental osteotomy can be successfully used for correction of unilateral posterior maxillary dentoalveolar hyperplasia.
